We Belong's Response to IHS and LLR Fee Hikes

We Belong’s response to the Government’s announcement to increase Immigration Health Surcharge and visa fees.

We Belong’s response to the Government’s announcement to increase Immigration Health Surcharge and visa fees.

As young migrants who have made the UK their home, we are deeply troubled by the government's recent announcement regarding the increased visa fees and the NHS surcharge.

By increasing the Immigration Health Surcharge by 66% as well as the visa application cost by 20% in the midst of the cost-of-living crisis, we fear that these increases may lead to many young people and families losing their lawful status due to their financial situation.

The fees for leave to remain and other applications are already excessive, putting an unbearable financial burden and mental toll on people like us.

We urge the Government to abandon its plans to increase the Immigration Health Surcharge and visa fees.

We Belong's Statement for Our Community

Following government plans to increase IHS fees by 66% and visa applications fees by 20%, we know that these fee hikes will undoubtedly have a negative impact on our communities.

Even though the Home Office has not yet released full details of the increases to immigration fees, we will continue to actively monitor the situation. However, we want to assure you that We Belong will continue to fight to end the hostile environment around immigration and resist cruel policies like these.

We will continue to advocate for a fair and compassionate immigration system.
