Join our Core Group
Our Core Group engages in the organisation's decision-making. Each core group member has lived experience of the UK’s immigration system. Being a part of the core group gives you access to internal opportunities and priority for events. If you are a young changemaker who believes in lived experience activism and wants to work with us to improve systems, then this group is for you.
Volunteer with Us
- We offer Structured Volunteer programmes if you would like to get involved in our work and support our projects.
- If you are looking for a Work Experience Placement, we also offer opportunities across our projects and campaigns.
If you'd like to get involved as a core group member or volunteer send us an email at info@webelong.org.uk and our Youth Development Lead will get in contact with you!
Want to get to know us first? Attend one of our monthly gatherings
We host monthly in-person gatherings, on the last Wednesday or Thursday of the month inviting young people to gather and build friendships and a lasting community. We believe in the power of storytelling so you will always be able to connect with others and hear someone share their experience, a reminder of why we campaign for change.
We post about our gatherings every month on our social media, but be sure to take a look on Eventbrite, where you can sign up for our upcoming events.

Our Parliamentary and Policy Working Group
The Challenge
Young people, especially young migrants, are often excluded from the policymaking process. Their unique perspectives and experiences are rarely considered, leading to policies that don't fully address their needs.
The Solution
We established the Parliamentary and Policy Working Group to bridge this gap. This group brings together young migrants aged 18-25 with lived experience of the immigration system to actively shape the organisation’s parliamentary and policy agenda.
Key Activities of the Working Group
- Developing Organisational Strategy: Working group members contribute to We Belong's strategic direction, ensuring it aligns with the needs and aspirations of young migrants.
- Engaging with Decision-Makers: Members directly interact with politicians and policymakers through various channels, advocating for policies that support migrant communities.
- Building Capacity: We Belong provides extensive training and support to equip working group members with the necessary skills to effectively engage in policy advocacy.
They collaborate with our Parliamentary and Public Affairs Officer Mariam Bafo to lead our campaign to get young migrants out of the Home Office loop.
This initiative demonstrates the power of youth-led initiatives in driving positive social change. By providing opportunities for young people to engage in policymaking, we can create a more equitable and just society.
