London Core Group

Our London Core Group Members lead and help us to shape our campaign aims. Each member brings their own unique lived experience of Immigration and Education. 

  • Abraham

Abraham is Nigerian born and has volunteered with We Belong for over a year. He enjoys philosophical discussions, researching and spends his free time engaging in sports or watching TV.

Abraham's favourite quote: "Do all the good you can, to all the people you can, for as long as you can"

  • Abdullahi

Abdullahi is Nigerian born and is a Social Anthropology graduate from SOAS, University of London. He has been a Producer for the Royal Albert Hall's Young Producers Programme. Abdullahi volunteers at Coram and has two caseworker roles in justice and advocacy at Hackney Migrant Centre (HMC). He has experience of being on a student advisory panel for IntoUniversity and was a member of both Hackney Youth Parliament and Young Speakers of Hackney.

Outside his busy lifestyle, Abdullahi enjoys learning Spanish and is a massive fan of wrestling!

  • Harneet

Harneet has hospitality experience in stadiums and has worked with We Belong to co-design and facilitate university access support sessions for other young migrants. He is also a Co-designer for the Talking about Poverty Project. Harneet has interests in various sports as well as video gaming. In his spare time, you may find him watching anime and stand-up comedy.

Harneet's favourite quote : "Good things come to people who wait, but better things come to those who go out and get them."

  • Jaya

Jaya is Mauritian born and is We Belong's weekly Newsletter creator as part of her volunteering. She enjoys engaging in creative activities and spending her spare time being adventurous with hobbies such as hiking and sailing. She has interests in exercising overall and cooking new dishes.

Jaya's favourite quote is: "A big journey begins with small steps."

  • Grace

Grace is Nigerian born and participates in shaping We Belong’s campaign strategies in education and immigration. She has developed hobbies such as cooking swimming and travelling. She also enjoys spending quality time with her loved ones.

Grace's favourite quote is: "Be there for others but never leave yourself behind. "

  • Hillary

Hillary is British-Nigerian and was born in the UK. She identifies with her Nigerian identity strongly and plays an important role in co-leading and shaping We Belong’s Core Group podcast Migrant Moods. Hillary is interested in Psychology and enjoys spending her free time reading and cycling.
