About the event
We are organising a parliamentary event on Tuesday, 14 May from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, bringing together cross-party MPs and young people from different parts of the UK as part of our ongoing Out of The Loop campaign. We aim to share our experiences and advocate for solutions to a pressing issue impacting our lives.
We are working to raise awareness about the impact of increasing Home Office fees and the financial burden it places on young migrants. As well as the toll it takes on our mental health, especially given the current cost-of-living crisis. As a general election approaches, we are reaching out to all political parties and young people to ensure that our concerns are heard and prioritised in decision-making processes.
This is a great opportunity for you to make your voice heard and directly engage with your MP about solutions that impact young migrants. You can also share how a fee waiver for Indefinite Leave to Remain could dramatically improve our ability to apply for settlement and finally move on with our lives. To find out more about the impacts of being stuck in a Limited Leave to Remain loop, you can read our Mental Health report.
Who can attend?
The event is open to young individuals aged between 16 to 25 years, who advocate for a fairer and shorter path to settlement. If you would like to show your support in solidarity or if you represent an organisation and would like to attend as a guest, you are welcome to join us! If you belong to Media Relations, kindly email us at comms@webelong.org.uk
More ways you can help.
Join our Parliamentary and Policy Working Group!
As part of the working group, you will take the lead in mobilising young people to directly engage with their MPs and assist our Policy and Public Affairs team in organising the event. You would be playing a pivotal role in making a more affordable route to settlement for eligible young people. If you’re interested, please reach out to us!
Write to your MP!
We want to invite Members of Parliament (MPs) to attend our upcoming event. The best way to do this is by writing to them about our issue and asking them to save the date. You don't have to go through this process alone. We have a pre-filled template ready for you! You can download our template or make a copy of the letter to begin drafting your own. If you have any questions, send us an email at info@webelong.org.uk and we'll be happy to provide any assistance with sending your letter.
