Chasing Status: We Belong Take it to Parliament!

Learn about our upcoming parliamentary actions!

We Belong is all about youth action, especially action taken by young migrants with lived experience of the system we're campaigning to change.

Whether you are personally affected by the constraints of the British immigration system, or you're an ally of We Belong and support what we stand for, we want you to join us for our in-person campaigns this Autumn! Are you with us?

How can I get involved?

1. Create

Join us at our We Belong office for a creative session where will create artwork to be displayed in Parliament that showcases the lived experiences of young migrants in the UK who are 'British in all but paperwork'.

When?

Wednesday, October 13th, 18:00 - 19:00

Where?

EC1 Offices, 338 City Rd, London EC1V 2PY

2. Engage

We're finally hosting a physical campaign again! Join us to engage the general public in We Belong issues. We will gather outside Parliament Square to survey members of the public on We Belong issues and see if the general public can pass the 'Life in the UK' test! The same questionnaire will be handed out in schools throughout London (read more about that below!)

When?

Tuesday, 26 October, 15:00-17:00

Where?

Parliament Square Garden, London (precise meeting info will be communicated if you confirm your attendance with us!)

3. Educate

Receive our Day of Action Pack and become a We Belong Ambassador at your local school: ask your classmates to take part in our survey during your morning registration. We will help you with all the organisation. We already have a list of schools we will be contacting, but if you would like to represent your school please reach out to us for a Day of Action Pack! All volunteers for this will receive a We Belong Ambassador certificate as a thank you for your contribution to our activism.

When?

Tuesday, 27th October (during your morning registration class)

Where?

Your local school

4. Impact

What is our desired outcome? For as many MPs as possible to sign a letter to the Immigration Minister asking for a 5-year route to settlement for young migrants who have lived in the UK for more than half their lives. We need your help to make this possible! Please contact your local MP and invite them to our exclusive event where we can spread awareness and spark change!
