Adam Umarji

Youth Development Lead

Born and raised in Blackburn, Lancashire, Adam is one of the original members of We Belong’s Manchester chapter. Having grown up in an area where opportunities for young people are limited, Adam was determined to break the cycle and graduated from the University of Central Lancashire where he studied Criminology.

‘Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.’ - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Adam was raised with the advice 'whatever you do, make sure you are able to help change a life for the better'. His career up to date has been dedicated to supporting those who come from the most vulnerable or disadvantaged communities and his own life experiences make him a vital connection between We Belong and the young people he supports.

Adam’s work extends beyond We Belong: one of his proudest achievements is launching a group for underprivileged young boys in his local community. In 2022 and 2023, Adam travelled Lebanon and Turkey to deliver lifesaving aid including food, drink and medical supplies and continues to involve himself in other humanitarian causes.
